I’m really doing it! A non-refundable one-way ticket has been purchased, all of my furniture and belongings have been sold (not the actual house yet, but we won’t get into that as it’s currently a source of high blood pressure for me and I’m all about good vibes and positivity right now) and I am MOVING TO HAWAII! What?! WHO DOES THAT?! Well, me, apparently!
In less than a week I’ll be boarding a plane with what’s left of my life stuffed into 2 checked bags, a carry-on and a personal item and moving to Kauai to start my new job as an 8th grade Earth Science and US History Teacher. After taking a couple years off from teaching following 4 years of being a high school educator, I’m super excited to get back into the classroom and even more excited to be doing so in paradise!
For those of you who are wondering how one even gets to a place of making a dream like this come true… well it’s been a long process! One that’s required a LOT of prayer, thought, courage and patience from those closest to me. I’ll write a post later on about the process of actually finding a teaching job in Hawaii for any of my educator friends who are interested in joining me (so… all my educator friends) and also give more details and what exactly a move like this actually entails. For now I’ll tell you this – the last couple of years have been transformative for me and I know that this experience will be even more so. What’s so beautiful about that statement is that this past weekend my two best friends from high school (shouts out to Karly and Katrina) gave me a beautiful necklace as a going-away gift and it represents TRANSFORMATION. The text on the card that came with the necklace describes perfectly how I feel about this move and was just final affirmation that life is too short to not take this chance, so I’ll leave you with a picture of necklace and those words:
